Sawing and storage technology for the entire metalworking sector
30th July 2015
At the global machine tool exhibition EMO, the world’s largest metalworking exhibition (05 10 October 2015, in Milan/Italy), KASTO Maschinenbau GmbH & Co. KG will present numerous innovations from the two sides of the company’s business: sawing and storage technology. Visitors to Stand A18 B09 in Hall 18 will have a chance to assess, amongst other things, the UNITOWER long material storage system, the new KASTOwin series of saws and the KASTOsort robot sorting system.
The UNITOWER tower storage system is available in three variants and is suitable for bar materials, sections, sheet and plate, as well as for euro-pallets or boxes and more. Its variable loading height means that it needs significantly less room, and is therefore more economical than floor or cantilever arm storage systems. An operating gantry crane with loading traverse handles the load supports. In addition, input and output stations connected to automatic conveying technology or to processing machines allow the material flow to be optimised. The UNITOWER is, for example, employed as a buffer store in fabrication shops, or for small to medium quantity storage in steel and other trading companies.
The horizontal band saws of the KASTOtec series are designed for cutting large workpieces and materials that are difficult to cut. The series achieves top scores thanks to its high cutting performance, easy operation, and carefully thought-out material handling. A spindle-driven material advance slide positions the material to be sawn exactly. Precision-balanced drive elements permit very high cutting speeds in combination with smooth running that prolongs blade life. KASTO will be exhibiting the fully automatic KASTOtec AC 4 with a cutting range of 430 millimetres at EMO.
The KASTOwin series, first presented in 2014, comprises five fully automatic band saws with cutting ranges of up to 1060 millimetres. The KASTOwin A 3.3 model, with a cutting range of 330 millimetres, and the KASTOwin A 8.6, whose cutting range is 860 millimetres, can be seen working live on the KASTO exhibition stand. The KASTOwin is a flexible, all-round solution for a variety of materials and finds numerous applications in trade and industry. As a large number of parts used within the series are identical, KASTOwin features an outstanding price/performance ratio. At the same time, its carefully thought-through, robust design permits the highest cutting performance. The SmartControl sawing machine controller ensures easy operation. It contains all the material data and automatically sets all the necessary parameters.
In addition to this, KASTO will be exhibiting the KASTOspeed high-performance automatic circular sawing machine in combination with the KASTOsort robot-supported sorting system. The saws in this series are particularly well suited to economical long-series applications. The optimum positioning of the saw drive and the four-point workpiece clamping arrangement enable an extremely short saw stroke. The KASTOsort sorting system provides another increase in efficiency by integrating industrial robots with suitable gripping systems into the saw. Cut pieces can be removed under fully automatic control and then stacked for optimised packing density, deburred, weighed or sent to further processing equipment.
