E-Commerce Delivery Technology Boosted by Mapping and Location Partnership

MetaPack, specialist in eCommerce delivery technology, is partnering with mapping and location provider HERE Technologies to provide an optimised eCommerce buying experience for retailers, brands and their customers. Through the partnership, the MetaPack API will dynamically present delivery options based on each customer’s location on the actual Product Description Pages of eCommerce websites. This level of transparency allows customers to select a delivery option personalised to their specific needs, enables brands and retailers to meet their delivery promises and ultimately drives conversion rates and revenues.
Commenting on the partnership, Mathieu Jurgawczynski, Senior Product Manager of MetaPack said: “With 45% of consumers confessing to having abandoned a basket on a retailer or brand/manufacturer’s eCommerce website because of unsatisfactory or unavailable delivery options[1], it’s clear that delivery is very much a defining moment in the e-commerce experience. Our alliance with HERE Technologies will enable online consumers to see via a retailer’s website which delivery options, services and slots are available specifically to them, making sure their package gets delivered at a location and time that suits them best.”
Results from the latest eCommerce Delivery Consumer Research revealed that 44% of respondents had used a Pick-Up Drop-Off (PUDO) service in 2016 compared to just 29% in 2015. It was a similar story for same day delivery; 22% of respondents had made use of this delivery option compared to just 13% in 2015. With an evident growth in the trend for consumers demanding and making use of a variety of delivery options such as PUDO, next day, same day and one hour, the pressure is greater than ever for brands and retailers to be able to provide different delivery choices to their customers in real-time. Supporting this, the MetaPack platform takes a preferred delivery address and then matches that, via geo location, with the nearest PUDO points (including locations such as petrol forecourts or convenience stores, as well as retail locations) that would be suitable for the customer. HERE’s solution ingests data (such as the customer’s address or another convenient delivery location) to present accurate store pick-up or PUDO options.

MetaPack works with over 400 carriers, such as FedEx, DPD and Hermes, providing access to over 4,000 different carrier services, that span most countries in the world.
