Yusen Makes Major Investments at Duisburg-Rheinhausen Site
14th June 2016
Yusen Logistics has significantly strengthened its logistics presence in Duisburg; acquiring a new warehouse and expanding its storage capacity by 8,700 m². The total storage capacity of the multi-warehouse site is now 62,000 m².
The expanded Duisburg storage complex is located in the largest inland port in Europe. It has excellent access to major road networks and is in close proximity to a container terminal with rail and inland waterway connections to the ports of Rotterdam and Antwerp.
With the launch of the new warehouse, Yusen is investing in expanding its value-added services and is increasing its focus on the optimal integration of customer value chains including new areas such as Dangerous Goods. Intelligent automated procedures also ensure the unobstructed flow of goods and information.
The warehouse expansion responds to growing demand within the region due to significant commercial growth which continues to develop positively. In addition to Yusens conventional services such as warehousing and X-dock for the B2B sector, the Company is expanding its B2C services and is introducing more value-added services to provide customers with a wider range of solutions.
Furthermore, Yusen has expanded the returns-logistics area and invested in a fully automated sorting machine. The new sorting machine quickly and accurately sorts parcels according to customer, destination and article, improving efficiencies and minimising opportunity for error, which is especially useful for B2C and Reverse Logistics.
Mario Cavallucci, Managing Director of Yusen Logistics Germany: “With this investment we are expanding opportunities in the future, to grow profitably and to offer our customers tailored solutions.”
