Hiab Technology Recognised with Noise Abatement Award Win
2nd November 2017
Hiab and retailer Pets at Home were last night named winners of the Quiet Logistics Award at the Noise Abatement Society 2017 John Connell Awards, the ‘Noise Oscars’, held at the UK Parliament. The prize was awarded for large investment into low-noise technology to reduce environmental noise and improve customer service.
Deliveries to its 1,400 UK stores in the evening and at night were receiving complaints from residents, mostly concerning noise emitted from diesel powered forklift trucks. To continue its efficient out of hours delivery movements, Pets at Home had to find a solution which came in the form of HIAB’s first all-electric MOFFETT truck-mounted fork lift with a lift capacity of 2,000kg and, importantly, completely silent. The resulting no-noise forklift operation pleases not just residents but also the staff who operate the equipment.
Gloria Elliott, Noise Abatement Society Chief Executive, said: “NAS applauds HIAB and Pets at Home’s investment in quiet delivery technology which will benefit residents and staff alike.”
The 2017 John Connell Awards were hosted by Damian Collins MP for Folkestone and Hythe; and the Quiet Logistics Awards were kindly sponsored by the Freight Transport Association.
