OCM automated thirty TNT depots in Italy

OCM, the Italian company of intralogistic solutions, is going to finish the supply of thirty automated sorting systems in thirty different TNT depots and hubs in Italy. The refurbishment was commissioned by the Express Courier within the TNT M30M upgrading project in 2014.

A complete automation of the process was issued by OCM providing three different technologies: Wheel Sorter (switch wheel technology up to 9.000 pph), Fast Sorter (pop-up technology up to 10.000 pph) and the new OCM PLT – Parcel Light Tracking, for the final sorting stage. PLT technology is an innovative automated solution that optimises timing, efficiency and energy of the process, redoubling productivity and ensuring 100% traceability: thanks to the innovative alphanumeric displays placed on the conveyor, the operators will instantly and easily recognise the parcels they need to unload from the line. PLT was shown for the first time on the international market at Post Expo the last September in Paris.

Within the TNT M30M project OCM provided TNT with eleven Parcel Coder too, the automated legally valid solution for the dynamic measurement and tracking of the weight and volume of parcels.

On the whole, OCM automated TNT depots of thirty different cities: Verona, Torino, Brescia, Modena, Reggio Emilia, Vicenza, Venezia, Ancona, Treviso, Portogruaro, Parma, Orbassano, Trento, Alessandria, Pescara, Udine, San Benedetto, Forli, Lecce, Asti, Cuneo, Bolzano, Siena, Lucca; Trieste, La Spezia and Salerno will be completed at the end of December (before Christmas time), and Aprilia depot at the beginning of the new year.
