Pen and Pencil Maker Optimises Logistics and Shipping with inconso
22nd June 2017
Europe’s leading manufacturer of writing instruments, STABILO International GmbH, is continuing its optimisation of logistic transport and shipping processes at the site in Weißenburg. In close collaboration with inconso, the subsidiary of the company group Schwan-STABILO has created improved process transitions and made adjustments on the basis of the system module SAP-LE TRA (Logistics Execution Transportation). The main focus areas were goods staging in shipping, the loading process, returnable goods processing and planning.
STABILO logistics now employs, among other things, mobile dialogs for process support that range from recording vehicle and load media data to confirming the shipping units through to entering dangerous goods data. Transport orders are automatically created, delivery notes and transport documents printed, service providers informed and outbound goods booked.
Moreover, STABILO now employs procedures for load space optimization. The SAP based inconso add-on inconsoS/LSO (Load Space Optimization) supports the transport planning in export during the calculation of needed load space capacities. The required dimensions of the shipping units are entered during the packing process and the most suitable load space is determined. The result is displayed in a table or chart with informative KPIs such as weight and volume utilization, all of which are used to provide precise information about required loading areas.
In close collaboration with inconso, STABILO International GmbH plans and realizes further process optimizations, which include the implementation of inconsoS/CEP for shipment processing in the CEP environment. A freight cost project for the integrated processing of freight costs with purchase documents and for freight cost analyses in SAP is planned for 2017.
