Pallet Marking Method Breaks New Ground

The Diagraph IJ4000 large character ink jet printer from Allen Coding, has found a new niche within the wooden pallet industry. Traditionally, the methods of hot stamping, rubber stamping or stencilling are used to mark or print on pallets.
However, these methods have several disadvantages to them. The hot stamp method means a slower process, as there is downtime associated with changing the stamps and heating them up. There is also a cost associated with creating the individual stamp as well as health and safety issues.
The combination of wood chips and sawdust make a combustible environment and the use of a heated appliance could cause a fire hazard.
The White Company, based in Spain were hot stamping 8000 pallets a day and needed a radical solution, ideally one which would cut costs and speed up production. They found it by switching to the Diagraph IJ4000 printer systems, which offers several major benefits over the traditional ways of pallet marking.
Its printhead offers exceptional durability – made from stainless steel, it can last up to 10 years. It can also print on both sides of the pallet at the same time. Offering superior print quality and user-friendly maintenance, the printers were installed onto the White Company’s production line.
Pablo White, owner of the White Company, sings the praises of the new printing system: “With the IJ4000, changing logos or codes is immediate. The markings are perfect, and are durable even in adverse weather conditions.”
He adds: “Not only has there been a clear benefit of saving time but also we have reduced costs as we do not have to slow down the pallet for printing”.
The replacement system is also safer from a health and safety perspective for the company’s employees.
