Seafood Specialist Aims For Sustainable Pallet Logistics
27th February 2017
Young’s Seafood Ltd, a major UK seafood manufacturer, has signed a new contract with Pooling Partners, the Pan-European business that coined the term ‘ECOnomics’ to refer to supply chain optimisation that delivers cost-effective, sustainable pallet logistics models.
The companies say that by pinpointing areas in which incremental changes can be made, Pooling Partners will aid Young’s in utilising palletisation methods that reduce transport costs and harmful emissions. They say they are committed to developing relationships with businesses, suppliers and customers to deliver services/products efficiently and improve sustainability methods.
Young’s believes that creating a truly virtually-integrated business is imperative to this and set up its VIP initiative (Virtual Integration Programme) to specifically focus on collaborative partnerships.
With an emphasis on driving innovation in the marketplace, the programme inspires partners to collaborate on joint projects and implement more efficient methods.
The umbrella organisation for IPP Logipal, Pooling Partners is the only pallet company to manufacture its own products, as well as retrieve, repair and repatriate pallets from all over Europe through a leasing arrangement that ensures it can track them at all times – a model which it says helps manufacturers and retailers alike to overcome some of their biggest financial challenges.
