Enrol For New UK Warehouse Manager CPC Course
17th November 2016
UKWA – the United Kingdom Warehousing Association – has announced January 2017 as the start date of its next Warehouse Manager Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) training programme.
Places are limited and those wishing to enrol are urged to do so as early as possible.
UKWA developed and launched its Warehouse Manager CPC in partnership with Logistics Learning Alliance (LLA) in September 2016 and a pilot programme held at LLA’s training centre at Coalville near Leicester – where companies represented included Eddie Stobart, Mini Clipper Logistics and Henry Diaper – proved extremely successful.
The feedback from those participating in the pilot programme has been overwhelmingly positive. For example, Eddie Stobart’s Richard Cunningham stated: “I found the course to be of the upmost relevance to my current role and have enjoyed the exercises set out very much. The course mentor has been great and has helped me to grasp anything that I didn’t understand. I also enjoy the fact that I am able to dedicate both time at work and at home to the work and, overall I would give the course top marks.”
The course consists of two modules, Management of Warehouse Operations and Management of People, and each one begins with a one-day workshop. In addition, each module requires 80 guided learning hours (GLH) – a total of 160 GLH for the qualification – which are delivered by distance learning.
Those that successfully complete the course receive a qualification that is equivalent to Level 4/5 of the Qualifications and Credit Framework.
Peter Ward, UKWA’s CEO, commented: “We are delighted that the industry recognises the value of this structured approach to training. The course is focused, relevant and designed to meet the needs of our sector and the UKWA Warehouse Manager CPC is rapidly becoming established as the industry standard of achievement for Warehouse Managers.”
“The course not only sets the UK standard but has been developed to also meet global standards for the future. It is an on-going programme for anyone aspiring to become a Warehouse Manager or Warehouse Managers looking to achieve a recognised standard and gain a valuable qualification.”
The Warehouse Manager CPC course is just one aspect of an extensive and varied training and education programme that UKWA has put in place for the benefit of its members that delivers high quality qualifications and teaching relevant to the needs of the warehousing and logistics industry, as Peter Ward explains:
“When I joined UKWA as chief executive in January 2015, establishing a training and education service for members, was right at the top of the agenda.
“We listened to our members who told us that one of UKWA’s priorities must be to deliver access to training and education services and we now have strategic partnerships in place with such well respected organisations as Logistics Learning Alliance, Supply Solutions, Intraining Group and the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport that allow us to offer a platform of courses designed to help UKWA members train and develop staff at every level of their business.”
The January Warehouse Manager CPC workshop takes place at the offices of Logistics Learning Alliance in the East Midlands. The course fee is £1,375 + vat. The price includes learning materials and support.
UKWA has a dedicated section within its website that highlights all the courses that are currently offered. See http://www.ukwa.org.uk/careers/training-programs for details or contact Shoaib Vakil by email at SVakil@ukwa.org.uk for more information.
