Jettainer, the leading international service partner for outsourced ULD management, has been selected to manage and maintain the pallets and containers of WestJet. Operations are about to start in conjunction with the inaugural flight of the carrier’s first wide-body service which will allow the airline to begin serving Europe and other regions of the world from Canada on a non-stop basis.

In a first step, WestJet will utilize a mixture of nearly 400 pallets and containers. They will come into operation on flights of the company’s first out of four Boeing 767-300 ER aircraft which has been delivered to WestJet recently. Additional units will be added continuously in terms of the upcoming fleet expansion.

“We are delighted to have won WestJet as a new customer. By signing with this Canadian airline, we were first of all able to further strengthen our position in the Americas, one of our most important growth markets”
, says Carsten Hernig, Managing Director of Jettainer. While taking over the ULD management for American Airlines and KF Aerospace, Jettainer has been investing in that region recently. In 2014, it established Jettainer Americas Inc. company with several offices in North America aiming at a close market presence in the Americas.

“This new contract also confirms our aim at approaching low cost carriers and leisure airlines, which are expanding their product portfolio, for example in terms of adding wide-body aircraft to their fleets in order to serve long-haul destinations”
, he continues. “Such companies highly appreciate having a strong partner offering both a global network and the complete ULD management service portfolio which includes the steering, positioning, maintenance and repair of loading devices.”
