Glass Carrier’s Load Solution Wins Innovation Prize
15th December 2016
Glass carrier Van Huët (part of the Emons Group) has received the innovation prize for its most recent concept, the Transloader. Developed with sister company Meierling, the Transloader was deemed the most innovative glass and general cargo transport concept at the award show for Saint Gobain service providers.
The prototype has been driving between France and Spain, transporting glass cargo one way and general cargo the other way. Foldable glass stillages enable the use of these two types of transport. The Transloader can transport 25.2 tonnes in 40-tonnes countries, but also jumbo sized float glass up to 9m. In its ‘general cargo-mode’, the concept can transport up to 33 EUR-pallets or 26 industrial pallets.
Clients using the Van Huët concept will contribute to a better environment, says the company; CO2 emissions can be reduced up to 60%. They say the concept leads to fewer trucks on the road for the same volume and the Transloader results in fewer ’empty’ kilometres.
