Multi-pallet handling solution targets higher throughput operations

Rising handling volumes, tighter supply chain schedules and increasing cost pressures are prompting many intralogistics operators to look for ways to improve efficiency. One approach attracting attention is multi-pallet handling, which enables forklifts to transport several pallets in a single movement, reducing the number of journeys required during material handling operations.

stabau’s S7 series of multi-pallet handlers has been developed to support this approach by allowing multiple pallets to be picked up and transported simultaneously. Depending on the model, the attachments can handle one, two or three pallets side by side, or—with suitable fork lengths—up to eight pallets using a combination of front-to-back and side-by-side configurations.

The equipment is aimed at operations with high throughput requirements, including the food and beverage industries, as well as building materials logistics.

Range designed for different applications

The S7 range includes several configurations designed to suit different handling requirements.

The double-pallet handler (DPK) can transport one or two pallets side by side or, with longer forks, two or four pallets in line.

The triple-pallet handler (3-PK) extends this capability, allowing one, two or three pallets to be handled side by side in a single operation.

For higher-volume applications, the SPG is designed to handle four or six pallets, while the APG enables the simultaneous transport of six or eight pallets.

The range is intended to provide options for operations requiring anything from flexible pallet handling to maximum throughput from a single lift.

Options for space-constrained operations

Warehouse layouts and loading environments often present space constraints, particularly during trailer loading and unloading. To address these challenges, the double-pallet handler is available in several specialised configurations.

Models equipped with telescopic fork tines allow trailers to be loaded or unloaded from one side, enabling pallets to be placed or retrieved from the far side of the trailer without repositioning the truck.

Alternative versions featuring a feed fork carriage are designed to place or retrieve pallets in rear rows where long or telescopic forks are not practical.

Flexible operation

The double-pallet handler incorporates two hydraulically adjustable pairs of forks, allowing operators to accommodate different pallet sizes without changing attachments.

Standard features include an independent side shift to assist with load positioning, bolted fork tines for maintenance, and a synchronisation system that enables coordinated fork movement without additional valve control.

Design focused on durability

The S7 series incorporates low-wear guide systems and a robust construction intended for continuous industrial use. Additional design features include raised outer forks to improve load stability and an open design to enhance driver visibility.

Optional equipment includes mechanically or hydraulically folding load stops for adjusting usable fork length, together with additional load restraints for handling unstable or delicate loads.

As warehouse operators continue to focus on increasing throughput while controlling costs, reducing unnecessary vehicle movements remains an important objective. Multi-pallet handling attachments offer one way of improving truck utilisation by moving more pallets in each journey.
