IPP Bids Farewell to Pooling Partners Name Identity

A well-known name in the European logistics landscape will no longer be in use from today with the news that IPP is to drop the name ‘Pooling Partners’.

As of today, the names of all companies that form part of the Faber Halbertsma Group will change. That is also the case for IPP. The name of the umbrella company ‘Pooling Partners’ will no longer exist. With the company’s expertise in pallet and box pooling services in the FMCG sector and in industry, the company will use its original name by which it is known in the market. The new group branding was heralded with a strike of the bell during the stock exchange open ceremony of Euronext Amsterdam on Monday 18 March (Stan Peeters, CFO, above).

The loss of the name Pooling Partners translates into a clear focus on the positioning of the individual IPP brand in the market, whilst maintaining the group’s image. The rebranding ensures that IPP can concentrate more on what the company truly excels at. That is because, for years, IPP has distinguished itself by simplicity in pallet and box pooling, simple invoicing, efficient cooperation and security of supply. The step towards creating transparency in the structure of the company names again reflects the focus on simplicity.

The rebranding is an investment in the company’s future and serves to build a strong platform on which IPP can continue to develop. By visually presenting all individual companies as members of a unified group, each of them strengthens the position of the others. As a group member, IPP is in a stronger market position than an individual company whilst at the same time the company can develop its own strength.

Descartes Sponsors True Heroes Racing for 2019 Season

Logistics software optimizer Descartes Systems Group  has announced its sponsorship of True Heroes Racing, a team founded in 2012 as a project to provide wounded, injured and sick (WIS) UK Service personnel and Veterans, with the opportunity to become directly involved in all aspects of competitive motorcycle racing. This is the second consecutive year Descartes is sponsoring the team.

The unique project was founded in 2012 by a serving British Royal Navy sailor, who had been lucky enough to return from several tours in Afghanistan uninjured. After working with a large number of injured UK Service personnel on motorsport charity events, he decided to try and use competitive motorsport as a way of restoring a sense of direction and focus for those who had been injured, and True Heroes Racing was formed.

After a short season at a Club level, True Heroes Racing became the UK’s first injured Serviceman’s motorcycle race team to compete at a National level at the British Superbike Championships, in the 2013 Triumph Triple Challenge. The team has since expanded year-on-year and will again be racing at the 2019 British Superbike Championships with a multi-rider line up. True Heroes Racing aims in time to become the first injured military team racing large capacity machines in the premier British Superbike Class.

Andrew Tavener Head of Marketing, Descartes Systems UK adds, “True Heroes Racing offers something unique and crucial for WIS personnel, and we’re very proud to be able to sponsor such an inspiring project. Pre-season testing has just started, and we look forward to the races beginning in April. It’s a pleasure to be able to support the team and we eagerly await the results of the season.”

EnerSys to Offer Lithium-ion Options in NexSys Range

Motive power specialist EnerSys is set to introduce advanced lithium ion technology to its NexSys range of high-performance motive power batteries with the launch of NexSys iON™ battery systems in 2019. The expanded range will encompass both superior Thin Plate Pure Lead (TPPL) and lithium ion batteries to offer customers a full spectrum of intelligent and flexible power options for their electric material handling vehicles.

For added peace of mind, NexSys iON batteries are designed to ISO26262 specifications, which equate to automotive lithium-ion battery safety levels. They employ multiple protective safety layers, an EnerSys – designed algorithm and a specially developed battery management system (BMS) based on ISO26262 ASIL C to achieve these high standards while avoiding adverse thermal events. Additionally, automotive-approved components are used in the construction of the batteries, bringing advanced safety benefits.

Meanwhile, the system design ensures safe, reliable and cost-effective operation for the long term. The batteries cells use NMC (Lithium Nickel Manganese Cobalt Oxide) chemistry, which is one of the most advanced types currently available. It offers high energy density as well as excellent chemical stability. As the product of choice for electric vehicles (EVs), NMC also offers a more solid and reliable supply chain, combined with vast, industry-wide investment into R&D.

The EnerSys designed NexSys iON system allows customers to maximise the well-known benefits of lithium ion technology. These include no maintenance requirements, high cycle life and long calendar life (so a truck needs only a single lifetime battery), high energy density, fast recharge times and no gas emissions.

With this combination of unique features and lithium-ion benefits, NexSys iON represents an exciting opportunity. However, EnerSys does not offer it simply as a standalone solution. Instead, NexSys iON shares the NexSys brand as equal partners with the long-established TPPL offering. This is important, because, in many applications, advanced lead chemistry remains very competitive technically, and financially the best solution. Additionally, the chemistry enjoys a long history of productive, reliable performance within the motive power industry.
