Wood Packaging Industry Congress Welcomes 110 Participants

The international FEFPEB Congress is the most important meeting of the year for the global wood packaging industry, and more than 250 participants from 22 countries met in Hamburg from October 9 to 11, with experts from the entire supply chain, ranging from sourcing through manufacturing to logistics.

The Congress was hosted by the HPE (German Association for Wooden Packaging, Pallets, and Export Packaging). “The exciting topics, the intensive exchange of ideas, the many personal encounters and, last but not least, perfectly organised excursions made the event successful,” explained HPE Managing Director Marcus Kirschner.

Joh. Friedrich Behrens AG better known in the UK as BeA Fastening Systems Ltd was one of the major sponsors of the Hamburg conference. Over 110 conference delegates took the opportunity to visit BeA’s manufacturing plant and its European distribution hub in nearby Ahrensburg.

With its high-quality range of pneumatic tools and fasteners, BeA is the market leading manufacturer in Europe for the fastening technology used by the packing and pallet industry.

“Every year in Europe, 25 million cubic metres of wood are processed into pallets and packaging, much of this volume with BeA tools and fasteners. The wide product range and the consistent availability of stock are an essential success factor,” emphasised Tobias Fischer-Zernin, CEO of Joh. Friedrich Behrens AG,

The FEFPEB members experienced the entire process of the “Made in Ahrensburg” tools, from development, design, production and sophisticated quality control right through to fully automatic high bay distribution. The delegates were visibly impressed by the unusually high volume of modern automated manufacturing technology, the meticulous quality control and the availability of fastener stock.
