B&B Attachments Named Exclusive Distributor for Griptech Mobile Weighing

B&B Attachments announced as exclusive distributor for Griptech mobile weighing products in England and Wales

B&B Attachments a leading material handling equipment manufacturer based in the UK, announced today its exclusive distribution rights throughout England and Wales for Griptech high-performance weighing systems for forklift trucks.
Mobile weighing technology allows the integration of weighing systems in industrial trucks, with the aim of being able to weigh the load directly. Using mobile weighing technology eliminates the need for stationary scales. This means no additional routes, no waiting time on stationary scales, less energy consumption and a lower risk of accidents.

B&B Attachments is the UK’s leading independent supplier of forklift truck attachments and masts, offering the widest range of solutions available from a single source. B&B’s reputation has been built on its ability to solve handling problems through its professional and experienced sales force, to offer well engineered, quality products and to maintain those products through the course of their working life.

Neal Fowler, Sales Director at B&B Attachments comments, “Griptech has many years of experience developing and producing electronic measuring instruments primarily for industrial applications. This makes Griptech mobile weighing systems the ideal product range to add to B&B’s ever growing offering of material handling solutions.”

“We are delighted to collaborate with B&B Attachments,” said Rodney van der Lingen, Export Manager at Griptech. “Griptech GmbH has made a commitment to focus on European growth, and the UK is central to this expansion. We are confident that we have chosen the right partner in B&B Attachments to develop this market further and ensure customers understand the breadth of the Griptech portfolio. This partnership will further increase market reach and product accessibility of Griptech mobile weighing systems throughout England and Wales,” Rodney enthuses.

Knapp Pick-it-Easy Robot on Show at Modex Next Week

Knapp is at Modex next week to demonstrate a revolutionary, new, each picking Pick-it-Easy Robot, powered by Covariant AI. “This year our Pick-it-Easy Robot is again breaking new ground, delivering fully automated eCommerce each picking to over 90% of the typical SKU assortment,” said the company.

Utilizing the newest gripping technology, vision systems technology, and AI – the PIE Robot is cloud integrated and features self-learning capabilities that build and enhance its SKU database, and share its knowledge with other robots. These features have not been available in the market until today, and have lifted real world success rates for fully automated order picking from 20% to 95% or more, says the company.

You can also view Knapp’s multi-level Open Shuttle, a robotic Autonomous Mobile Robot (AMR) designed to deliver flexibility at the newest state-of-the-art warehouses. Open Shuttle AMR – SWARM intelligence – operates as a network of intelligent transportation robots that work easily with your workforce. This is the same AMR being used in the latest Hyperlocal Fulfillment Centers being deployed globally by Knapp partner Takeoff Technologies – for grocery leaders Ahold Delhaize, Albertson’s, Loblaw and others.

LogiMAT to Return in March 2021 Following Late Cancellation

LogiMAT will return to Stuttgart in March next year, following last night’s cancellation of this year’s event due to the impact of the coronavirus outbreak.

Organisers EuroExpo had battled hard to save this year’s show, despite a flood of cancellations from many exhibitors, including some of the biggest and most important companies in the global industry.

Until yesterday, local public health advice had backed the decision to press ahead with the show, but once the advice changed yesterday afternoon, EuroExpo bowed to what had already seemed the inevitable to most observers.

“This is bitter, given the overwhelming importance of LogiMAT Stuttgart for the global intralogistics industry. The cancellation of LogiMAT 2020 for external, unforeseeable circumstances is unprecedented in the event’s 18-year history. Despite tremendous efforts working with Messe Stuttgart, we were unable to find a later date to host the event in 2020, so it is with great regret that we have decided to cancel LogiMAT 2020,” announced Christoph Huss, Managing Partner of EuroExpo.

The next LogiMAT will take place in Stuttgart from March 9 to 11, 2021.

Industry View: Why the UK Taxpayer Might Love Mastic Asphalt

What solutions are there to alleviate the damages caused by Storm Jorge? Roadmender UK claims it has technology that will spare Britain a boatload in the wake of February’s storms.

In the aftermath of Storm Jorge, widespread flooding and strong winds has compounded the extensive damage caused by Storm’s Ciara and Dennis respectively to the British communities across the breadth of the nation. Causing untold damage to Britain’s already frail infrastructure, insurance claims for the storms are expected to cost well over £200m.

The damage to infrastructure shall also compound costs. Currently, estimates from Asphalt Industry Alliance’s (AIA) Annual Local Authority Road Maintenance (ALARM) survey suggest that the cost of restoring the roads in England and Wales to a “reasonable, steady state” would be approximately £9.79bn. Historically, floods cause extensive loosening of pursestrings on local governments, with the 2015/16 winter flooding costing £1.6bn to repair for damages.

Harry Pearl, CEO of Roadmender UK – innovators of groundbreaking mastic asphalt technology – explains how new road building materials will make Britain’s roads some of the most cost effective on the planet, improving resistance to winter flooding.

“The issue with current asphalt offerings that’s used for the construction of the majority of Britain’s roads is that there is a serious lack of longevity. In recent years petroleum companies have become more efficient at extracting the maltenes from crude oil. As a result, the bitumen that is used for our roads is worse and therefore the road qualities in the UK have been declining.

“With mastic asphalt technologies, which are 100% recyclable, the addition of rubberised modifiers means that asphalt can be bound in a way that ensures a longer lifespan for roads. With the adaption of these new technologies on a wide scale, the wide reaching impacts of natural phenomena, such as Storm Jorge will be much more understated.”
