LSP Awarded a CDP B Rating for Effective Climate Action

GEFCO has enthusiastically responded to the CDP questionnaire, which provides a framework for companies to provide information on their climate action performance, including governance and policy, risks and opportunity management, environmental targets and strategy, and scenario analysis. GEFCO progressed in several of the CDP’s 14 categories and achieved a higher score than the industry average.

In particular, GEFCO advanced in the business strategy category, as highlighted by the launch of its Operations Excellence and Sustainability Department (OES) in 2020. The Group was also recognized for its tangible improvements in emissions reduction initiatives through its commitment to 2% CO2 avoidance. These initiatives include testing natural gas trucks in several European countries and using mega trucks in Spain for larger loads and greater efficiency. Moreover, GEFCO gained traction in value chain emissions management by working proactively with suppliers to reduce its environmental impact. The company also improved its disclosure of risks and governance.

New Collapsible Containers Offer More Space, Zero Waste

Returnable packaging innovator, Loadhog, has extended its range of Collapsible Containers with a 320mm version. It is capable of reducing to a smaller proportion of its height within its own footprint, making it ideal where space saving is a necessity.

Like other Loadhog containers, it can be made from recycled material, thereby eliminating one-trip packaging, preventing waste and significantly reducing double-handling. Replacing cardboard, or even old plastic containers, with recycled plastic material, promotes a circular economy within a supply chain.

Capable of collapsing to a ¼ of its height, this container offers all the features of its bigger brother, with fully integrated lids, vertical bump fit walls and reinforced corners and base. This stable, robust and lightweight design becomes even more versatile and efficient when partnered with the Loadhog Lid and Dolly. With the container boasting a 4:1 stacking ratio, companies can increase vehicle fill when returning empties enabling efficient transport of goods.

This packaging system is popular with retailers as it can be used from one end of the supply chain to the other removing double handling across the different touchpoints. This includes picking in the distribution centres all the way to replenishing on the shop floor.

A choice of colours and accessories including external identification labelling locations, interior dividers and security seals for the collapsible containers are available.

Loadhog has long since aimed to innovate in the returnable packaging sector, and underwent a new brand design a couple of years ago to emphasise this.

Yale Europe Materials Handling has expanded its ground-breaking range of products for less demanding applications with the ERP16-20UXT. Suitable for applications that require intermittent use of materials handling equipment, the three-wheel electric counterbalance truck can help customers in a number of industries with their operations.

The Yale® UX Series was first launched in 2020 after Yale identified a demand for products that are used intermittently, but are still capable of high levels of efficiency and productivity. For small to medium sized companies, or larger companies who require straightforward load movements, the ERP16-20UXT is a good choice due to its low cost of ownership.

To ensure that the ERP16-20UXT provides high levels of productivity even in the shortest period of use, the truck has been designed to offer operators great visibility, comfortable ergonomics, and highly responsive steering.

A clear view

The ERP16-20UXT benefits from a wide mast window, giving the operator a clear view while handling and transporting loads. Due to the shape of the truck, operators can also enjoy good rear vision in the cabin of the ERP16-20UXT.

Inside the ergonomic compartment, all controls are in easy reach to reduce fatigue and increase comfort for the operator. The dashboard mounted IP65 display offers basic information at a glance, such as the battery discharge indicator, travel speed, and fault codes to enable a quick repair. Often businesses with infrequent materials handling needs also have compact working environments. The three wheel design of the ERP16-20UXT minimises the truck’s turning radius, while highly responsive steering enables the operator to move with ease.

Alerting the workforce

In applications where materials handling equipment are not in constant use, it is vital that those in the near vicinity of a truck in operation are alerted to its presence. The ERP16-20UXT comes with an amber strobe light as standard to give pedestrians an additional visible alert to a moving truck. The rear grab handle has an integrated horn button, which allows the operator to easily issue an additional audio warning while reversing.

New Semi-Rugged Laptop for Manufacturing and Automotive Professionals

A new semi-rugged laptop has been launched by technology company Getac.

The next-generation S410 is a highly configurable, semi-rugged laptop aimed at manufacturing and automotive professionals working in challenging environments.

It offers upgraded all-day performance, a new display and enhanced memory and processing power. Key features include the 11th Generation Intel® Core™ i5/i7 Processors with integrated Intel® Iris® Xe Graphics, PCIe NVMe SSD as default and user-removable storage, for improved efficiency during daily workflows and graphics-intensive tasks.

The S410 also features cutting-edge connectivity, thanks to its Intel® Wi-Fi 6 AX201 module that supports the new IEEE 802.11ax standard. The result is smooth streaming of high-resolution video, fewer dropped connections and faster connections at farther distances from a wireless router. Thunderbolt™ 4 technology provides ultra-fast data transfer speeds, while also making it easier to share data with other devices.

A brighter screen (up to 1,000 nits), coupled with LumiBond® 2.0 Technology, ensures comfortable outdoor viewing, even when under direct sunlight. Furthermore, the S410 can accommodate up to three hot swappable batteries, ensuring zero downtime from shift to shift. A backlit keyboard makes work in low-light environments easier, while a larger touchpad enables a smooth user experience with fewer input errors.

As expected with Getac ruggedised products, the S410 is MIL-STD-810H certified, resists a three-foot drop, and sports a wide operating temperature range from -29°C to 63°C (-20°F to 145°F). Compliance with the IP53 rating allows users to operate in dusty and light rain conditions without fear of damaging the unit.

The S410 allows a variety of inputs, including stylus pen, finger, or even a gloved finger, making it ideal for manufacturing environments such as shop floors and production lines. The portable design, featuring a solid carrying handle, extends mobility for production managers. The S410’s configuration options are diverse, supporting a variety of new and legacy I/O ports for more robust industrial computing operations and factory automation workloads.

The S410 is compatible with the latest automotive diagnostic software and features both wired and wireless connectivity, including the Intel® Wi-Fi 6 AX201, which delivers real-time access to on-board diagnostics and high-speed vehicle tests.
