Temperature Solution Firm Opens in UAE

DoKaSch Temperature Solutions, a leading provider of temperature-controlled logistics solutions, is pleased to announce the opening of its new depot in United Arab Emirates. This strategic move strengthens the company’s presence in the Middle East and enhances its global network.

The new depot is in Dubai close to Dubai-World Central Airport, strategically placed due to its extensive global connections and immediate access to the networks of major Middle East carriers such as Emirates, operating a hub in Dubai, and Etihad, with a hub in nearby Abu Dhabi. This expansion aligns seamlessly with DoKaSch Temperature Solutions’ growth strategy, expanding global supply chain for pharmaceutical products.

“The establishment of our new station in Dubai is a significant milestone in our growth trajectory and highlights our commitment to enhancing our global network,” stated Andreas Seitz, Managing Director at DoKaSch Temperature Solutions. “Dubai and Abu Dhabi are established hubs, and our new station will play an important role in the global supply chain for pharmaceutical products.”

The pharmaceutical industry in the Middle East has experienced remarkable growth, with the UAE’s pharma market expected to reach a value of 4.7 billion US-Dollars by 2025, according to ADQ, an Abu Dhabi-based investment and holding company. With the opening of the Dubai depot, DoKaSch Temperature Solutions strengthens its foothold in the region and globally, ensuring expedited access to the Opticooler®, its high-quality and reliable temperature-controlled packaging solution.

Moreover, the Dubai depot holds strategic importance as a gateway to the Indian subcontinent, a key market for the production of pharmaceuticals, biosimilars, and biotech products. This expansion will increase the company’s ability to serve the growing demands of the pharmaceutical industry in the Middle East and neighbouring regions.

With the new Dubai depot, DoKaSch Temperature Solutions’ is expanding their free deliver global network offering the Opticooler®. This container maintains a consistent internal temperature, even amidst extreme external fluctuations ranging from -30° to +50°C. This feature is particularly crucial for the Dubai market and the surrounding region, given the consistently dry climate throughout the year, with average temperatures ranging between 27 and 45 degrees.

Dubai Packager Implements EPG TMS

Supply chain software company EPG (Ehrhardt Partner Group) has cemented its already strong partnership with Dubai-based Falcon Pack, as the disposable food packaging specialist is to implement EPG’s Transportation Management System (TMS). The two companies have forged strong bonds since Falcon Pack’s introduction of EPG’s LFS Warehouse Management System (WMS) in 2018.

With its adoption of the TMS, Falcon Pack is taking advantage of EPG’s much-admired suite approach to supply chain software solutions. The EPG ONE Supply Chain Execution Suite comprises bespoke applications for each branch of the supply chain journey, from Gartner Magic Quadrant-recognised storage and fulfilment (WMS) to transport and distribution (TMS). Key business drivers within the TMS are routing optimisation and scheduling, provided by EPG’s Greenplan application, winner of the prestigious Best Product award at LogiMAT 2023. Dozens of Falcon Pack transport vehicles, from small vans to truck-trailer combinations, are to be implemented with the software.

Speed and Efficiency

The digitisation of transport execution processes will help Falcon Pack to improve speed, accuracy and efficiencies in its fast-growing ecommerce operations in Dubai. The state-of-the-art technology also enables the packaging experts to introduce same-day delivery to customers, alongside enhanced documentation control and shipment monitoring via an easy-to-use intuitive interface.

“Investing in EPG’s TMS was an easy decision for us to make,” comments Syed Ehtisham, Executive Director IT, Falcon Pack. “We have enjoyed a productive relationship with EPG’s expert engineers and on-the-spot field teams since we installed LFS five years ago. We have great trust in their portfolio, and we expect the TMS to provide us with valuable savings in terms of both time and money as well as clear transparency of our day-to-day operations and, consequently, even better relationships with customers. It is also a bonus for our hard-working staff that the system they have supplied us is so easy to get used to.”

Niels Meinken, EPG Logistics Consultant, is delighted with Falcon Pack’s decision to invest once more in EPG’s product expertise. “Our suite approach means that our customers can source all of their supply chain software needs from a single source, which results in smoother transitions and fewer pinch points, as well as a single contact. At the moment we are fully focused on implementing our TMS with them, and we look forward to expanding our relationship with Falcon Pack still further in the future.”

Amazon chooses Flexi fleet for Dubai DC

Amazon has ordered a fleet of six Flexi Truck articulated forklift trucks for its DXB3 fulfilment centre in Dubai Logistics City, UAE.

The e-commerce site launched in the UAE in May 2019 and, spread over 32,700 sq m and stocked with more than four million products, the DXB3 site is Amazon’s largest fulfilment centre facility in the country with in excess of 650  staff employed there.

Amazon’s new Flexi Trucks feature digital electric motor technology that allows independent twin front-wheel drive, hydraulic functions and the truck’s unique power-steering motor to be controlled digitally – ensuring the most productive, energy-efficient and safe driving performance throughout the working day.

The control systems at the heart of the Flexis deliver higher productivity combined with significantly reduced operating and maintenance costs, while the trucks’ VNA functionality and ability to work both inside and outside the building, make it the ideal choice for Amazon’s UAE operation.

Operational efficiency at the Dubai facility is further enhanced thanks to an integrated lead-acid battery charging solution that dramatically reduces Amazon’s overall energy consumption.

Featuring ‘call-forward’ alert technology to identify the most appropriate fully charged battery when a change is due, the charge system allows Amazon to operate with only two batteries per truck on a three shift usage pattern to minimise materials handling fleet running costs.

Flexi Trucks are built at hubs in the UK and Taiwan by Narrow Aisle Ltd. International sales account for some 40% of Narrow Aisle’s business and a global network of partners provides a full range of after sales support services to Flexi Truck users in some 63 countries worldwide.

Narrow Aisle Ltd’s managing director, John Maguire, commented: “The Flexi Truck’s iconic articulated design is ideally suited to the modern fulfilment centre operation. Flexi Trucks save space, increase productivity and allow safe access to any stacking aisle at all times.

“The Flexi’s ability to work in very narrow aisles means 30% more pallet and shelving locations can be designed into storage systems compared with traditional wide aisle operations while comparison tests have highlighted that Flexis are 25% more productive during a typical shift.

“To achieve optimum online order fulfilment performance it is important to deploy the most suitable materials handling equipment and the Flexi Truck articulated forklift-based intralogistics solution delivers hugely improved productivity and increased safety for warehouse staff as they carry out a range of customer order picking duties at lower levels and at the same time Flexis can stack and replenish in complete safety at height within warehouse aisles.”

DIMOS opens branch office in Dubai

DIMOS Maschinenbau GmbH, a manufacturer of warehouse and industrial trucks as well as system supplier for the air cargo sector, is establishing a branch office in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. With this move, the family business based in Peterberg, Germany, is strengthening its local customer and project support and taking a big step towards internationalisation.

The connection between DIMOS and Dubai began in 1999, when the manufacturer delivered the first Pallet Mover to Dubai International Airport. Today, numerous other products from the Air Cargo portfolio are in use in the Arab region, in particular the X-Way Mover multifunctional vehicle. The team of Unitechnik Systems GmbH, based in Dubai, has supported DIMOS as a partner from the very beginning. Together with the specialist for automation solutions for internal logistics and production, DIMOS has implemented a large number of joint air cargo projects.

Out of this long-standing partnership, DIMOS is now establishing its own branch office in Dubai. As a result, from now on the Projects & Systems department of DIMOS will represent the business in the United Arab Emirates independently. The air cargo experts concentrate on the acquisition and handling of intelligent system solutions in the airport sector. The organisation and administration are controlled from Germany. The Dubai team, consisting of technicians, programmers and sales staff, continues to carry out, finalise and follow through orders and processes on site.

Building on experience

“We are enabling a new generation to emerge in Dubai, but we are relying on a team that is established in the market with a large number of project successes and a high level of customer trust in the United Arab Emirates,” emphasises Pascal Schütz, Sales Manager at DIMOS. “Our customers will retain their long-standing contact persons, who can now offer even more intensive support.”

DIMOS plans to further develop and strengthen the air cargo sector it has built up so far in Dubai, but at the same time is looking towards the material handling market: “In the medium term, we would like to position ourselves in the Dubai area as a contact for warehouse and industrial trucks for all industries and actively shape the market there, which is characterised by innovation and visionary thinking,” Schütz concludes.
