British Storage Supplier Launches Racking Rental Service

Rapid Racking Rental, a new service from Gloucestershire-based storage supplier Rapid Racking, is now providing flexible and low-cost storage solutions to businesses in need of temporary racking and shelving.

As part of an initiative to offer a dynamic service to the storage market, the UK-based supplier has launched Rapid Racking Rental in a bid to provide a sustainable alternative to one-off racking purchases intended for short-term use. With an average lifespan of 30 years, Rapid Racking’s steel units are a viable option for long-term investments, however the rental service aims to broaden the storage supplier’s market into the circular supply chain as a cheaper and adaptable alternative as part of a fixed-term contract.

The new rental service includes an on-site survey with a design specialist, a free project quote and plan, the assembly of large racking orders, routine rack inspections and optional material handling additions such as storage containers, pallet trucks, and step ladders.

Rapid Racking Rental has been led to fruition by the company’s Head of Product and Services, Tom Ellis. He comments: “The rental service is intended to support businesses that only require storage for a limited time, or those which need a low-cost entry point into the world of storage. As our racking’s frames and beams are made from steel, they are long-lasting by nature. However, we have identified that this is not necessarily a suitable purchase for every business, particularly SMEs. Our new rental service is a low-cost alternative to long-term investments, so this could benefit new businesses who haven’t established a stable cash flow and prove a viable option for pop-up retailers, seasonal outlets and businesses in between premises. We want to offer our durable racking products to a wider market, with the same intent to provide high quality storage solutions. Plus, the racking can be rented for as long as the customer requires with the option to extend the project timeline or purchase the racking at the end of the rental contract.”

Mr Ellis says that as well as broadening the storage supplier’s market options, he hopes that the new service will encourage businesses to opt for more sustainable storage options when seeking short-term racking and shelving by enabling customers to rent racking for a minimum of three months. He adds: “Let us take away the hassle of managing your storage solutions by offering it as a service instead – with no large upfront costs, or hidden fees. This new rental service includes the design, supply, delivery, installation, inspection and removal of your racking all for a monthly, single fixed cost.”

Rapid Racking is one of the UK’s leading suppliers and stockholders of commercial racking and shelving, providing a range storage solutions and accessories from our site in Kemble, Gloucestershire. It is a subsidiary of the Manutan Group, a leader in the international supply of industrial, commercial and office equipment to businesses. Working closely with Manutan’s 25 subsidiaries across 17 countries, Rapid Racking offers the best possible product selection for a range of commercial and domestic storage needs at competitive prices.

New Developments from META at LogiMAT

Since last year and under the name META-ILS (Innovative Logistic Solutions), META, the warehouse technology specialist based in Arnsberg, Germany, has been covering the newly developed field of material conveyor technology. This will now be the focus of the company’s exhibition presentation. In addition, visitors to this year’s LogiMAT will be informed about the latest innovations and proven solutions in the company’s warehouse technology range.

Conveyor technology

Last year, the company celebrated a premiere at LogiMAT with the presentation of its new subsidiary: under the name META-ILS, META offers individual customer solutions for complex tasks within the field of warehouse automation with conveyor technology. META-ILS ensures a sustainable competitive edge for its complete range of customers from e-commerce, logistics, industry, automotive and many other sectors thanks to holistic warehouse planning, including predictive analysis, consultation and simulation.

This has given the Arnsberg-based company access to projects that could not be previously served. Global customers now benefit from efficient and innovative conveyor technology in combination with premium storage technology.

Storage and shelving technology

In the field of storage technology, META’s core expertise, the Arnsberg-based warehouse technology specialist once again has much to show this year. One example is the versatile META MULTIFLOOR shelving system, designed as an extensive modular kit. This allows META to respond even better to a wide variety of customer requirements and offers them a much wider range of applications.

A second example is the new wire mesh shelving with air, water and light permeability. This makes this newly designed shelf system the ideal solution for areas with special fire protection requirements. In addition, the shelf system also shows its advantages to full effect in cold stores.

On more than 130 square metres in Hall 1, Stands H01 and H05, visitors can see for themselves the extensive world of META as well as its future-oriented approach. In addition to the innovations outlined above, the team of storage technology experts will be happy to answer any questions relating to e.g. warehouse technology, steel construction, operational facilities, services and the META Calc online configurator.

Sample Dispatch and Archiving

A décor printing specialist relies on storage solutions from META-Regalbau at its new Service Centre, reports Paul Hamblin.

Arnsberg-based décor printing company Interprint has recently opened a Service Centre as the base of operations for sample dispatch as well as storage of the company’s important sample archive. When selecting the shelf solutions required for its storage base, Interprint opted for META storage systems. META-Regalbau develops, produces and sells stationary and mobile shelf
technology. As a system provider, META deals with all requests relating to warehouse logistics: from advice, planning and project planning to the assembly of storage facilities. META offers its customers complete solutions starting with the initial idea and including project management and support as well as commissioning. The extensive range of shelf systems includes shelving, pallet racks, cantilever racks and mobile racks, flow racks, storage platforms and multistorey rack systems.

With around 1,300 employees worldwide, including 390 at its headquarters in Arnsberg, the Interprint Group is one of the world’s leading décor printing companies. For 50 years, the Interprint philosophy has been ‘Think global, act local’. Wood, stone and creative décors from Interprint adorn the surfaces of many wood-based materials used to create furniture or flooring for use in interior design. In the recently completed building, by coincidence directly adjacent to META, the company’s service department has been amalgamated and centralised. At the same time, the print specialist took on a complex digital challenge with the introduction of a new warehouse management system.

High demands, individual solutions

As one of the world’s leading décor printing companies, Interprint offers a wide range of sample services. To fulfil these services, HPL (High Pressure Laminate) sheets and different types of décor paper rolls of various lengths are stored in the new Service Centre. It was crucial that the different shapes, lengths and weights of the stored samples were taken into account when designing the shelves. Thanks to close co-ordination between Interprint and META-Regalbau, perfect solutions for the various requirements were found or developed over several stages of the project. In addition to the diverse requirements of the stored goods and the official requirements, increased fire protection requirements also had to be met. Among other things, set distances between the
sample rolls and the shelves were necessary to ensure full effect and performance of the installed sprinkler system. Interprint designed special editions of its paper rolls for this purpose.

A décor printing specialist relies on storage solutions from META-Regalbau at its new Service Centre. Susanne Wünsch, Head of Marketing at Interprint, spoke about the co-operation between
the two companies: “Our company attaches great importance to high service quality. The individual storage solution from META is a key element,” she said. “Despite the stringent requirements,
it was a very constructive project with META-Regalbau’s office and field staff,” added Anke Gerling from the décor development department at Interprint.

Variety of shelving systems

Different shelving systems are used at the new Service Centre. The META MINI-RACK shelving system is used to store the décor paper rolls. This versatile long span racking system is the ideal solution for large and heavy single items thanks to the vast storage space and high compartment loads. This system is also the ideal choice for archiving linear metres in tubes of different lengths. Shorter paper tubes are archived in an individual combination of META CLIP side walls with stepped beams.

Décor samples already pressed into laminate sheets (HPL) are clearly arranged in smaller volumes in META CLIP shelving systems divided by full height dividers. The diverse applications and individual solutions at Interprint demonstrate the versatility of the different shelving systems and prove that META can provide the perfect storage system for every storage item.
