Cost-Effective Lorry Curtains for Clean Lines

The UK’s largest suppliers of lorry tension curtains have launched the Adaico Ada-Slider for commercial vehicle operators looking for a cost-effective sliding curtain for easy access and vibrant graphics. The Adaico system features a reinforced sliding curtain, secured at either end with a single tensioning lock to provide a smooth surface for branding and designs.

Paul Reeve, Managing Director of Structure-flex, said, “As the Ada-Slider has had limited availability in the UK, we’re glad to be making it widely available to hauliers and fleet operators. And with our Sales Manager’s in-depth experience with the system, we know it delivers great value and durability.”

The Ada-Slider system is manufactured in Spain by Adaico and has won fans across Europe for its lower overall cost than comparable systems. The Ada Slider is available for heights up to 2.4m and lengths between 3.5m and 7m. Weighing less than many curtain systems, a single door lock at each end provides easy access and a smooth tensioned surface for vehicle graphics. The system also achieves the EN 12642-XL standard for load containment within commercial vehicles and trailers.

Despite being a new addition to Structure-flex’s range, their Area Sales Manager Blaine Durno, appointed in early 2020, has extensive experience with the product from a previous role. Blaine states, “the beauty of the Ada Slider is it’s simplicity. It is easy to open, close and secure with a single latch. Using our print technology, we can create highly impactful graphics that stay vibrant for longer.” Norfolk-based Structure-flex have provided lorry tension curtains since 1970 and the Ada-Sider is intended to complement their existing range which includes their innovative Smoothside buckle-free curtain.

Structure-flex’s operation are one of the largest and most capable in the UK, with the firm recently announcing a supply contract to Eddie Stobart Logistics. Investment in the latest ink technology has increased the intricacy of designs they can print onto tension curtains and ensures colours remain stronger for longer than ever before.

Blaine concludes, “Lorry curtains are more effective than ever as a place to build brand recognition and boost sales. Using reinforced PVC, high-frequency welding and the latest inks technology we can make any vehicle stand out on UK and European roads.” Previously available through a single UK supplier, Structure-flex were keen to stock the Adaico system and Blaine and his colleagues have already completed orders for individual vehicles and entire fleets.

Curtainsider Trailers Investment by Haulier

Logistics and supply chain management business, Woodside Haulage, has acquired 20 new fixed roof Schmitz Cargobull curtainsiders to transport goods between the UK and Ireland after being impressed with the quality of the trailers.

The new assets join an existing fleet of 20 Schmitz Cargobull curtainsiders, used to transport a variety of goods including retail, FMCG, construction, packaging and recycling to manufacturers, retailers and industry. Managing Director of Woodside Haulage, Mark Woodside, says: “We ship goods on ferries and our trailers are worked rigorously and extensively on an intensive schedule, so we need absolute confidence they are of the highest quality. The Schmitz Cargobull build quality really is second to none. The fully galvanised chassis gives full protection against corrosion and we know they will maintain a good cosmetic appearance throughout their entire life. We have trailers that remain in service for up to 15 years and we are confident this will be the case with these latest additions.”

Schmitz Cargobull’s high-tech modular chassis is a mix of galvanised steel and aluminium and comes with a 10-year warranty against rust-through. Each trailer is also specified with additional lighting and reversing sensors. “Safety is another key factor for us, and we’ve added extra lighting and sensors to the trailers to make sure we are maximising driver welfare and load security during transit,” adds Woodside. “For us, the fact that all Schmitz Cargobull products go through rigorous testing gives us assurance that the assets are of the highest quality and safety standards.”

The Schmitz Cargobull Validation Centre (CVC) puts all prototypes through a range of tests under a mix of tough conditions, including using hydropulsers to simulate distances of one million kilometres across different road types. Woodside Haulage is part of Woodside Logistics Group; a family run business with 50 years’ experience in professional transport and logistics solutions across Ireland, the UK, mainland Europe and the rest of the world. The business has depots in Ballynure, Belfast, Dublin, Liverpool and Preston.

35 New Trailers for Continental Cargo Carriers

Specialist full and part-load operator, Continental Cargo Carriers (CCC), has invested a six-figure sum in 35 new trailers to modernise its fleet. The new trailers will join the company’s current fleet of 270.

In addition to the new trailers, all CCC trailers are now tracked. This time-saving benefit gives customers an immediate response to the location of trailers carrying their goods without having to call drivers for an update.

Marco Riccomini, Manager at CCC, said: “The new trailers are a welcome addition to our fleet, and look fantastic! They have many features including extra securing eyes, disc brakes to ensure braking efficiency and safety, and LED lights.”

Carlo Turner, General Manager at CCC, said: “This is the second investment in trailers in the past year with another scheduled for end of 2019. We believe it is very important to maintain a high standard of equipment ensuring we operate a modern fleet that maximises pay-loads whilst benefiting from the latest chassis and brake technology but ultimately, looking good on the roads of Europe!”

CCC completed the relocation of its Ramsgate sales and operations team to Dartford earlier this year – the first of a series of developments following CCC’s acquisition by leading logistics operator Europa Worldwide Group in 2018.

Established in 1973, CCC is one of the biggest players on the roll-on/roll-off market between Europe and the UK, delivering daily full and part-load consignments. The company runs a 4,000 sqm warehouse and employs more than 100 people in Belgium and the UK.

CCC’s UK team is now based in Europa’s £30m headquarters in Dartford, however CCC remains a separate operation. CCC also now benefits from Europa’s in-house IT and development team which has implemented many initiatives resulting in improved efficiencies across the business.
