Complete Solutions Portfolio for Sitma at LogiMAT and SITL

Sitma Machinery, an Italian company specialising in the design and marketing of machines and complete lines for the Packaging, e-Logistics, Post Press and DM / Transpromo sectors, will take part in the LogiMAT fair in Stuttgart from March 10-12 and the SITL show in Paris from March 17-20. The company plays an increasingly consolidated role in the logistics sector, able to fully meet the needs of companies of different types and sizes, while at the same time excelling as a leader in complex projects.

LogiMAT and SITL: first stages of a 2020 dedicated to logistics
After an extremely dynamic 2019 full of events and achievements, Sitma Machinery, a company from Spilamberto (MO), is preparing to open an equally intense 2020 with participation in the LogiMAT fairs (March 10-12 in Stuttgart) and SITL (March 17-20 in Paris). These events offer a highly regarded stage for presenting a portfolio of solutions dedicated to logistics, from sorting systems to packaging machines, from development of software applications to intelligent management of shipping processes.

However, Sitma’s presence at the main trade fair events is not just marked by the presence of it machines, but also by the exclusive know-how the company possesses thanks to 50 years of investment in product and process innovation. Today more than ever, this know-how allows Sitma to carve out a central role within the supply chain, offering itself as a supplier and global partner for the e-commerce and e-fulfillment sectors.

Not just hardware: the Crono Log offer
In recent years, Sitma has invested heavily in expanding its offerings to customers, studying solutions tailored to the specific needs of the market and paying particular attention to e-logistics. This has led to the development of highly advanced hardware solutions and, at the same time, to increasingly efficient applications capable of operating according to predictive logic (predictive maintenance), optimizing the flow and operation of the line. Embodying this concept is Crono Log, an innovative start-up accelerated by Sitma, and which provides the market with an integrated solution for automatically dropping off parcels, tracing and collecting data during the shipping phases, and smart delivery and return management. The result is an extremely efficient solution for managing shipments from the first to the last mile — one that is capable of optimizing the performance of the line and improving efficiency along the entire supply chain, from initial packaging to delivery to the end user.

e-Wrap 2.0: the “green” packaging machine for e-commerce
Both events will be characterized by the presence of e-Wrap 2.0, the next generation of one of Sitma’s most popular machines, presented last September in Birmingham at the IMHX fair. Designed specifically for the e-commerce sector, the machine is prefigured as a solution that is both high-performing and environmentally friendly, able to pack packages and envelopes of varying sizes with different types of wrapping materials, including bio film and paper. The e-Wrap 2.0 can also be equipped with a special feeding system that offers the possibility of picking up, printing and applying paper inserts (such as invoices, return notes or other documents), integrating perfectly with the packaging without the need of glue, thus guaranteeing significant material savings.

Synergy as a basis for innovation
Sitma’s attention to sustainability does not stop at the machines, but rather it extends to the entire supply chain, as evidenced for example by the close relationship that the company has established with suppliers of raw materials. Together with companies such as UPM The Biofore Company, a leader in paper production, the company is working to identify new solutions for packaging, taking a simultaneous approach to developing materials and ensuring their usability with the machines. For this and other projects, the goal is to develop applications with high technological characteristics and high added value, which at the same time are based on respect for the environment and can reach the market in a short period of time.

Sitma’s e-commerce packaging solutions and Crono Log’s offerings for smart management of shipments will be available for viewing at the Sitma Machinery stand in Logimat, Hall 5 Booth D21, and at SITL, Hall 6 Booth L99.

Intralogistics Container Specialist bekuplast to Showcase New Series at LogiMAT

At LogiMAT, German-based specialist bekuplast is to showcase its new series of containers for intralogistics for the first time (Hall 6, Stand C05).

The contecline series has been specially developed for use in automated small parts warehouses as well as with shuttle systems. The name already reveals that the strengths of the contecline lie, it says, in the field of conveyor & storage technology.

The contecline is tailor-made for the requirements of modern conveying systems and storage technology and impresses users with its well thought-out design, says the company. The containers are equipped with a circumferential closed running tread base, which is designed for loads of up to 50 kg. Thanks to this special design of the base, the containers have ideal running characteristics and are particularly quiet when transported on conveyor lines. The sturdy, double-walled corner design also ensures a trouble-free process flow on conveyor lines in curved areas.

For use in high-bay warehouses, the containers are available with water drainage holes in the base and side walls in accordance with international fire protection regulations. For the side walls, you can choose between water drainage holes in accordance with VDS or FM Global guidelines.

Cartwright Fridge Trailer Designed for Air Cargo Market

Cartwright Europe has launched a new fridge trailer specifically designed for the air cargo market in continental Europe.

The company’s entry into the FNA Air Cargo Fridge market was unveiled recently at a special open day at Aalsmeer near Amsterdam to major transport operators, suppliers and representatives from a diverse range of sectors including pharmaceutical and engineering.

The launch event was a collaboration with Cartwright’s new partner in the Benelux, Burgers Carrosserie B.V.

Cartwright engineers have been developing the new FNA air cargo fridge trailer over the past nine months with the aim that it will provide an alternative option to the air cargo industry in the Benelux region and across European.

Cartwright has collaborated with Burgers, an established family trailer manufacturer in Holland which delivers custom-made bodywork to many industries and is the largest double-deck trailer supplier in Europe.

Cartwright’s new FNA Air Cargo Fridge has a number of key features including a 15ton kingpin with a high tensile steel chassis neck to allow for a maximum payload.

The Rollerbed has an auto down safety feature for added load security, with flip upload stops. Internal panels are designed and manufactured by Cartwright to achieve an internal width of 2.495m with low thermal conductivity and high insulation. The fridge trailer’s profile roof provides a maximum internal height.

In terms of capacity, the fridge trailer can accommodate 33 Euro pallets or 2 x 3000 mm high and 2 x 2,900 mm high Air Cargo pallets.

The new trailer has been designed so that it can carry various products ranging from pharmaceutical items, general freight and different configuration air cargo pallets.

Jeroen Kusters, Sales Manager of Cartwright Europe B.V. commented: “The recent launch of our FNA Air Cargo Fridge trailer for the European air cargo market was very successful. We have identified that there is a need for a new player in the sector and we believe this new Cartwright fridge trailer can fill this Egap in the market.

“This trailer can carry almost anything and because it is destined to be air cargo it will usually be expensive items or goods needing to be sent to their destination as quickly as possible.

“We already have a demonstration trailer of the new air cargo fridge product which is currently being shown to prospective customers in the Benelux region.

“Our next step this year will be to demonstrate the fridge trailer in Germany where we believe there is great potential for this new trailer,” he added.

Hermes to Build “Largest Distribution Hub in Europe”

Hermes is to build a state-of-the-art automated parcel distribution hub located in Barnsley, near Sheffield. Due for completion in 2022, the £60 million development will be, claims the delivery specialist, the largest of its kind in Europe and will create around 1,300 new jobs in the area. Up to 800 people will work on site during shifts, it says.

The 363,000sq ft facility, named Colossus, will initially process 1.3 million parcels daily; boosting the company’s overall capacity to 3.8 million a day. To future-proof and prepare for expected growth, further tiers will be added to the hub in coming years.

CNG vehicles will be based at the hub and there will be provision for electric cars. Colossus is strategically located near the motorway, close to several of Hermes’ retail customers’ distribution sites. This means that later cut off times for collections will be provided.

Meanwhile, further investment across Hermes’ network is also being planned to further support growth. This includes investment at the firm’s Nottingham and EuroCentral depots this year, adding automation and capacity to process an additional 280,000 parcels to the network annually.

Martijn de Lange, CEO at Hermes, said: “The online shopping boom shows no sign of slowing down and we have just experienced our biggest Christmas period to date, handling in excess of 49.1 million parcels during December 2019 alone – significantly up from 39.5 million in December 2018.”

Hyster Europe Unveils New Counterbalance Warehouse Series

Hyster Europe is unveiling a new series of general-purpose counterbalance forklifts and warehouse trucks, designed to meet the real-world needs of a wide range of operations.

“The new Hyster® UT series gives businesses more ways to select the right truck for their budget and their needs,” says Rob O’Donoghue, Director Solutions – Europe, Middle East and Africa for Hyster. “When matched with the right application and the right operating volume, businesses will find these trucks straightforward, durable, reliable, and uncomplicated to maintain.”

The UT range responds to a growing market demand for affordably priced trucks that get the job done and are particularly suitable for lower intensity applications. The first available models in the series include H2.0-3.5 UT IC counterbalance lift trucks, with a capacity of up to 3.5 tonnes, the P2.0UT S Platform Pallet Truck and the S1.5UT Pedestrian Stacker. A choice of electric counterbalance lift trucks is also expected to launch in 2020, extending the range further.

Further UT lift trucks and warehouse solutions will be added to the range in 2020. The UT series complements the already proven and popular Hyster® product range, which includes the XT, FT and wide selection of electric lift trucks and warehouse solutions.

“With a comprehensive range of choices, businesses can rely on Hyster® trucks as they change, expand or optimise their operations,” says Rob, explaining that the new series will receive high-quality service, support, back-up and parts through the existing global network of local Hyster® distribution partners.

All trucks in the dependable UT series are built to trusted Hyster® quality standards with both practicality and operator comfort in mind. Made with durable components and designed for ease of self-service and straight-forward maintenance, they also provide reliability and a low Total Cost of Ownership.

“Demanding operations take many forms,” says Rob. “But, from low volume handling in the stock room, to lifting heavy-duty loads in dirty environments, Hyster has the right truck, at the right price, to meet the challenge.”

Hyster recently announced their solutions aimed at saving space in the warehouse.
